The use of appropriate spelling, grammar and presentation in contemporary business communication

Spelling is a significant aspect that enhances written communication in contemporary business communication. Depending on the context, spelling might refer to the way letters of a word are written or the capability of spelling the words. When one writes with appropriate spelling it assists them to become knowledgeable of what they are communicating (Daffern, Mackenzie & Hemmings, 2017) and illustrates the quality of the message. As this plays an important role in written communication including advertisements,  the presence of spelling errors might be annoying. According to Tracey and Simons (2016), poor spelling is troublesome for individuals engaged in communication. This implies that inappropriate spelling might result in poor interpretation of the message and distract the receiver from focusing. Therefore, the use of appropriate spelling is significant in contemporary business communication.

The grammar refers to the set of accepted language rules which one uses to develop phrases and  sentences that communicate exactly what the sender of the message wants the receiver to know. According to Daffern et al. (2017) and Al-Shujairi and Tan (2017), grammar enables the individuals to identify the differences in the sentences using articles, tense and aspect to understand what is being communicated. This makes the writer’s  ability to write using correct grammar a requirement as it outlines the quality of the written message and impresses the receiver to take immediate action.

The type of presentation in communication context depends on the type of audience being addressed. For example, one cannot deliver presentation suitable for the board members of a company to a group of kindergarten students. Even when addressing the specific audience, the presentation needs to have an appropriate tone and be interesting to keep the audience engaged. According to Kaur (2013), the use of engagement procedures including visual aids keep the audience focused. The following video https://www.youtube.com by Rule The Room (2013) illustrates the effective ways for delivering presentation. When doing presentation, this could be taken into consideration to achieve effective outcomes.

In conclusion, spelling, grammar and presentation play important roles in contemporary business communication. The sender of the message should pay serious attention to these features when communicating to ensure that intended objectives are achieved.
